The imposing Majesty of Scotland's Castles
Be captured by these magnificent structures, built over the centuries to impress and protect. Scotland has some of the most outstanding castles in Europe, brimming with history and artefacts.
The most famous of Scotland's castles is Edinburgh castle. Home to the Scottish crown jewels, there has been a castle on this site since the 11th century. Be ready at one o'clock when they fire the cannon each day!
Stirling castle overlooks two Scotland’s most famous battlefields, that of Bannockburn and Stirling Bridge. Partly restored to the look of the fifteenth century, discover more about the ancient feud between Scotland and England.
Those are just two of Scotland's great castles. Make time to visit: Eilean Donan; Caerlaverock Castle in Dumfries; Glamis castle in Angus; Blair Castle in Perthshire; Craigevar castle in Aberdeenshire; to name but a few.
An entire holiday could be enjoyed touring Scottish castles alone.
